How this calculation works
- Sections ≈ run length ÷ spacing (rounded up). Posts ≈ sections + 1, then extra corner posts, then one extra post per gate opening as a planning add-on.
- Gate width is informational for hardware; cost uses your per-gate extra plus the linear-foot range on the full run (common on bundled bids). If a bid deducts gate openings from panel footage, lower the length.
- Material presets load typical US installed bands. They are not your city’s labor rate.

- Do I need a post every 8 feet on a slope?
- Often yes or closer. Stepped panels and racked rails change the takeoff. If the yard slopes hard, treat this count as a minimum and have the installer walk it.
